  • Basic Manners for Dogs

    Basic Manners will focus on the following: *Review of Impulse control and Greeting behaviors. *Basic commands: Sit, Down, Stay, Advanced Foot Targeting and Hand Targeting. *Relaxation techniques *Loose Leash Walking *Recall Exercises *Playing Games with your pup and teaching tricks. The class will take place at the Animal Behavior Wellness Center in Lakeside. We will have the opportunity for a short playtime after class in the fenced in backyard. The class consists of Five one-hour sessions. I hope that you will be able to join us!

  • NOVA Group Dog Reactivity Class

    This is a great way for you and your dog to practice generalizing skills by working on guided exercises where dog's walk by one another, approach one another, practice polite greetings, and have a safe space to retreat to if they get over threshold. All students will have graduated from Reactivity 1 and most from Reactivity 2. You can book the sessions whenever there is a space available.

  • ABWC Dog Reactivity Boot Camp

    Foundations of Reactivity will provide you with the skills that you need to get a handle on Leash Reactivity, Reactivity to New People, and Fear Reactivity. It will also give you the tools that you and your dog need to  participate in Group Reactivity Classes. Since we are at the Animal Behavior Wellness Center, we can also work on addressing any issues related to fear or anxiety in a veterinary setting. We use positive reinforcement methods only. No aversives like prong collars, choke collars, or E-collars.  Your dog will learn to make better decisions and you will learn how to be an advocate for your dog by learning to guide your dog and read her cues.  In Group Reactivity, you will get practice in a controlled environment so that your dog can be more confident in the world! 

  • RVA Dog Reactivity Boot Camp

    This package is for session that take place at the Richmond Training Center in Varina. Foundations of Reactivity will provide you with the skills that you need to get a handle on Leash Reactivity, Reactivity to New People, and Fear Reactivity.   • 5 RVA Behavioral Dog Training Sessions

    Behavioral training sessions are designed to deal with issues that are more complex than your typical training issue. We will work on building skills in a positive and consistent manner. Our first session will focus on constructing a management plan and structures that will prevent your dog from rehearsing the behaviors that we are going to work to change.

  • RVA Private Behavioral Session

    Private Behavioral Sessions: Address issues such as Aggression in Dogs, Reactivity and other more difficult behavior issues. These sessions are best booked in packages so that we can move through the training on a consistent schedule. You can also choose to take Private Classes at the Animal Behavior Wellness Center in Richmond particularly to deal with issues such as fear of Veterinary visits. The rates are higher due to the charges for the space.  You must first sign up for an initial consultation.​​

  • 5 NOVA Private Basic Dog Training

    This is a package of five, one-hour of private dog training using positive reinforcement methods with you and your training team. Whether you want to train basic behaviors, work on brushing up existing skills, or learn something new. These sessions can be scheduled so that there is a consistent training schedule and you can get the results that you are looking for. These sessions also are a perfect chance to brush up on a skill or behavior, add a session to a package to make sure you have all of the tools that you need, or adjust training plans.

  • NOVA Initial Behavioral Consultation

    Does your dog growl, bark or lunge when on leash? ​Show aggressive behaviors? Resource guard? Is your dog Fearful? Has your dog bitten a dog or person? If so, a Behavioral Consultation is for you. During this one and a half hour session: *We will discuss your dog's history and place in the family. We will also discuss the Training Team and environmental challenges and benefits. *We will document any bite history, medication interventions, previous training experiences and more. *I will evaluate the dog through observation of his behavior and your interactions with him. *We will create a communication plan to make sure everyone is on the same page. This will include your file share space on the website for videos and messages for the whole group to share. *We will discuss your goals and compare those to the prognosis. *After getting buy in, we will create an initial Management Plan. This plan will surely change overtime and will be the Least Restrictive, Minimally Invasive, but will err on the side of caution. *We will go over basic concepts related to the behavior modification plan and you will have time to ask questions. If we are working with an especially fearful dog, it may be best to conduct the initial consultation virtually so that the dog is not stressed for this longer session by having a stranger in the house. We will make this call before the session. All Seventh Heaven Training Classes include the following: * You will have access to an online folder where you can upload video or download video, your handbook and bonus training protocols will be loaded onto your site. * You can ask questions in a chat with me and your training team. * You will have access to videos to go along with most of the lessons. * At our first session you will be provided a printed handbook, clickers for your family and a foot target.

  • Virtual Training Session

    This is a one hour training session. You can book additional time by adding sessions. We will meet on Zoom and all of the materials for the session will be added to your folder. You will have access to the recording for six months after the session.

  • NOVA Private Puppy Training Class

    Our Private Puppy/Welcome Home Class helps you get prepared for your new furry family member! You can schedule your first visit either before or after you bring your pup home. Starting from the premise that our goal is for your dog to have freedom and agency, we will discuss setting limits while your dog is getting used to her new home, keeping a close eye on her, and starting as you want to have things go. This is a five session package. Each session is 1 Hour long. Private Puppy Training classes are private classes aimed at dealing with all of the issues that an older new dog can bring to the table. ​ * Management Tools * House Training * Crate Training * Getting Along with Other Pets * Being Left Alone * Walking on Leash * Preventing Potential issues such as Guarding * Beginning Basic Behaviors * Beginning Impulse Control​​ *Cooperative Care We will also add behaviors and tricks that are appropriate for your puppy!

    This class focuses on play and issues related to puppy behavior.​: * Potty Training * Jumping Up/ Appropriate Greetings * Nipping and Biting *The Rules of Play * Schedules and Management * Sit/ Down * Handling and Cooperative Care We will also customize the curriculum and add behaviors that would be appropriate for your puppy to learn! Group puppy socialization classes are for pups between the ages of 9-14 weeks. This period of time is called the Critical Socialization Period. It is important to introduce new people, places, things and experiences.
